Meet the Founder & Formulator
My name is Joyce Kwamena-Poh. I am the founder and formulator of NKU Skin Care, a handmade skin care wellness brand. I am also the founder of Vibrant Life Selfcare Wellness, a natural health brand dedicated to helping individuals make health a daily habit through self-care. I’ve always believed in the healing power of nature, and as a student of holistic wellness for more than 20 years, I’ve learned that true beauty starts with self-care - caring for our bodies with love and respect.
In 2009, that belief came to life when I launched NKU Butter. I was inspired by my love for raw shea butter, a powerful, natural moisturizer, and nourishing gift from nature. But in its raw form, shea butter is thick and heavy, so I wanted to make it easier to use – in a smooth and convenient form, without losing its natural purity or strength. Creating my own products grew into something I love doing and a way to promote natural, healthy skincare. I wanted every ingredient to be something I could recognize and trust — pure, natural, and safe for both skin and hair. It reflects my lifelong philosophy of prevention and protection — not just caring for skin when there’s a problem but keeping it healthy and nourished every day.
After more than 15 years of growth, NKU Butter has evolved into NKU Skincare and is also the skincare arm of Vibrant Life Self-Care Wellness. It’s more than a name change; it’s a reflection of everything this journey has taught me and carries the same heart and purpose – to inspire daily self-care and remind us that caring for your skin is an expression of love and one of the most loving things you can do for yourself…because your skin deserves to be loved naturally.
